This traffic alert details the locations of road construction and other events that will affect the flow of traffic this weekend. This information is subject to change. Check the Weekly Traffic Advisory Check for special traffic advisories

Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond DOT's control. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, security alerts and other emergencies. Other state and local agencies are responsible for street construction work in New York City. The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

Gridlock Alert Dates for 2014 are as follows

Friday 11/21, Wednesday 11/26, Wednesday 12/3, Friday 12/5, Thursday 12/1, Friday 12/12, Wednesday 12/17, Thursday 12/18, and Friday 12/19.
Motorists are urged to use mass transit.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.


Festivals, Parades and Events

Stone Street Pedestrian Mall

The following streets will be closed daily from March 15th through November 30th from 10 am to 10 pm for the Stone Street Pedestrian Mall as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

  • Stone Street between Hanover Square and Broad Street
  • Mill Lane between Stone Street and South William Street


Grand Street Bridge over Newtown Creek

This bridge will be closed Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs.


Starr Street between Central Avenue and Wilson Avenue

This bridge will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.


St. Catherine Academy Run

The following streets will be closed Saturday from 8:30 am to 10 am for the St. Catherine Academy Run as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO)

  • Williamsbridge Road between Astor Avenue and Pelham Parkway South
  • Pelham Parkway South between Williamsbridge Road and Stillwell Avenue
  • Stillwell Avenue between Pelham Parkway South and Pelham Parkway North
  • Pelham Parkway North between Stillwell Avenue and Williamsbridge Road
  • Williamsbridge Road between Pelham Parkway North and Astor Avenue
  • Astor Avenue between Williamsbridge Road and Laconia Avenue

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overnight vehicles are permitted. Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th and continue through the duration of the project. The closures are: Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 8 am Saturday. No weekend closures on Saturday and Sunday and holiday weekends. During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
