This traffic alert details the locations of road construction and other events that will affect the flow of traffic this weekend. This information is subject to change. Check the Weekly Traffic Advisory Check for special traffic advisories

The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

Gridlock Alert Dates for 2014 are as follows

Friday 11/21, Wednesday 11/26, Wednesday 12/3, Friday 12/5, Thursday 12/11, Friday 12/12, Wednesday 12/17, Thursday 12/18, and Friday 12/19.
Motorists are urged to use mass transit.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.

Manhattan

West 15th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 16th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 67th Street between 3rd Avenue and 2nd Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 69th Street between York Avenue and 1st Avenue

This street will closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am 8 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 87th Street between York Avenue and East End Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 89th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Columbus Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

East 109th Street between 2nd Avenue and 1st Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Lispenard Street between 6th Avenue and Church Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Franklin Place between Franklin Street and White Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Franklin Street between Franklin Place and Broadway

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Perry Street between West Street between Washington Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

Due to the Brooklyn Bridge Ramps Rehabilitation Project, several lane closures may affect motorists travelling between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Local streets may experience single lane closures as needed and Manhattan-bound lane closures continue overnight throughout the duration of the project. Any other closures, including Manhattan-bound closures that extend into daytime hours during selected weekends, will be highlighted below. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained throughout the project as will the span's pedestrian and cycling path. During Manhattan-bound closures, motorists will be detoured to the nearby Manhattan Bridge or may choose other crossings.

Unless otherwise notified of specific occurrences, nighttime closures are as follows:

Overnight/Weekend Detours for Manhattan-Bound Traffic
Monday - Thursday nights: 11 pm* to 6 am
Saturday 12:01 am* to 7 am
Sunday 12:01 am to 9 am

* To allow traffic to clear before the reversal begins, the eastbound BQE exit onto the bridge closes 30 minutes earlier and other Brooklyn ramps onto the bridge shut down 5-15 minutes earlier.

Williamsburg Bridge

One of four eastbound lanes will be closed Saturday from 6 am to 2 pm to facilitate bridge repair work.

Brooklyn

Third Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal

One lane in each direction will be closed Sunday from 7 am to 12 Noon to facilitate bridge repair work.

Starr Street between Central Avenue and Wilson Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

6th Avenue between Pacific Street and Atlantic Avenue

This street is subject to full closure Saturday between 6 am and 11 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Tech Place between Jay Street and Bridge Street

This street will be closed 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

Brooklyn/Queens

Grand Street Bridge over Newtown Creek

This bridge will be closed Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm to facilitate NYCDOT bridge repairs.

Queens

2nd Street between 54th Avenue and Borden Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

42nd Road between 23rd Street and 24th Street

This street will be closed 6 am Saturday to 9 pm Sunday to facilitate crane operation.

Bronx

Eastbound 161st Street eastbound between Grand Concourse and Concourse Village West

This street will be closed eastbound Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overnight vehicles are permitted. Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th, 2014 and continue through the duration of the project. The closures are: Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 8 am Saturday. No weekend closures on Saturday and Sunday and holiday weekends. During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
