This traffic alert details the locations of road construction and other events that will affect the flow of traffic this weekend. This information is subject to change. Check the Weekly Traffic Advisory Check for special traffic advisories

The times listed for closures for street fairs are for the actual times of the street fairs themselves. The streets may be closed for longer to allow for set-up and breakdown. Street fair organizers are generally permitted to begin set-up at 8 am and breakdown must be completed by 7 pm.

As part of its citywide traffic improvement program, the New York City Department of Transportation has compiled a list of areas where Street construction or Street events will impede the normal flow of traffic this weekend.

Manhattan

East 12th Street between University Place and 5th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

West 46th Street between 9th Avenue and 8th Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 2 am to 11 am to facilitate crane operation.

East 68th Street between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Mercer Street between Spring Street and Prince Street

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Little Italy Pedestrian Mall

The following streets will be closed Friday May 22nd to September 17th, 2015 from 6 pm to 9 pm for the Little Italy Pedestrian Mall event as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

28th Annual Livable West Side Festival

The following street will be closed Sunday from 12:00 pm Noon to 5 pm for the 28th Annual Livable West Side Festival as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Chelsea Reform Democratic Club 6th Avenue Festival

The following street will be closed Monday from 11 am to 6 pm from the Chelsea Reform Democratic Club 6th Avenue Festival as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

The following street will be closed Monday from 12:00 pm Noon to 6 pm for the Chabad of Wall Street Community Fair as permitted by the Mayor���s Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO).

Manhattan/Brooklyn

Brooklyn Bridge

Due to the Brooklyn Bridge Ramps Rehabilitation Project, several lane closures may affect motorists travelling between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Local streets may experience single lane closures as needed and Manhattan-bound lane closures continue overnight throughout the duration of the project. Any other closures, including Manhattan-bound closures that extend into daytime hours during selected weekends, will be highlighted below. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained throughout the project as will the span���s pedestrian and cycling path. During Manhattan-bound closures, motorists will be detoured to the nearby Manhattan Bridge or may choose other crossings.

Unless otherwise notified of specific occurrences, nighttime closures are as follows:

Overnight Detours for Manhattan-Bound Traffic
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no closures on the Brooklyn Bridge this weekend.
Tuesday - Thursday nights: 11 pm* to 6 am

* To allow traffic to clear before the reversal begins, the eastbound BQE exit onto the bridge closes 30 minutes earlier, the northbound FDR Drive exits close up to an hour earlier, and other Brooklyn ramps onto the bridge shut down 5-15 minutes earlier.

As of March 26th, 2015 and lasting through December 2015 the Brooklyn Bridge promenade will be reduced in width for pedestrians and cyclists at various locations. At the towers, the work zone will be in effect continuously during this period. On the Brooklyn approach work will be conducted only during overnight hours. Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to cautiously share the narrowed pathway.

Hugh L. Carey Tunnel

One tube will be closed nightly Monday to Friday between 9:30 pm and 5:30 am to facilitate tunnel repairs through 2018. Weekend-long single tube closures will begin Friday night from 9:30 pm and continue through 5:30 am Monday morning. In addition one tube will be closed for routine maintenance work Sunday night beginning at 11 pm through 5:30 am Monday. During these times there will be one lane in each direction in the remaining tube.

Brooklyn

49th Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue

This street will be closed Saturday and/or Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate crane operation.

Staten Island/New Jersey Crossings

Bayonne Bridge

One of two lanes in each direction is open to traffic for PANY/NJ long term navigational clearance project. No oversized or overweight vehicles are permitted. Overnight Bridge closures started January 8th, 2014 and continue through the duration of this long term project. The closures are: Monday through Thursday from 9 pm to 5 am and Friday midnight to 11:59 pm Saturday. No weekend closures on Sunday and holiday weekends. During closures, motorists should use the Goethals Bridge as an alternate.
