Mayor Bloomberg today announced a series of initiatives to increase the use of fuel efficient and environmentally friendly taxicabs, through new financial incentives and legislative initiatives. The Mayor's announcement follows a recent decision in Federal District Court that prohibited the City from mandating the use of cleaner, more fuel efficient taxicabs.

Notify NYC is a new service designed to enhance the delivery of emergency
information to the public. During the pilot phase, the City will
test different kinds of public messaging, including email, text
messaging and telephone, to determine the best way to launch a
Citywide program. There are currently four communities involved
in the pilot.
