"Made in NY" Film Production Tax Credit

Description:
The "Made in NY" tax credit, offers a 5% credit on qualified production costs for qualifying films and television productions filmed in New York City.

Prerequisites [back to top]  
1.  The qualified production must shoot on a set, on a stage at a qualified production facility in New York City; and
2.  Complete at least 75% of the total facility-related expenses at a qualified facility. These productions will qualify for up to a 5% tax credit for work done at the facility.
3.  Once the facility requirement is met, costs for location work, post-production, and other work done in New York outside the facility are eligible if either a) at least 75% of the location shooting days are in New York City, or b) the production spends at least $3 million on work incurred at the qualified facility.

Steps to Apply Online:

    Steps to Apply Offline:
    1.  An initial application must be submitted prior to the start of principal photography.
    2.  An initial review meeting is held with the City and State prior to the start of principal photography.
    3.  The final application is due 60 days after the completion of the qualified film.
    4.  Upon completionof the final application review, tax credit certificates are issued by the City and State.
    5.  The credit is claimed on the applicant's City and State tax returns for the year the film was completed.
