Description:
The primary focus of NYSERDA Flexible Technical Assistance Program (FlexTech) is to increase productivity and economic competitiveness by identifying and encouraging implementation of cost-effective energy efficiency measures. NYSERDA has contracted with a group of competitively selected engineering firms to provide a variety of technical assistance services to New York State companies, custom-tailored to their energy-related needs.

These services are cost-shared by NYSERDA on a 50:50 basis up to $500,000 and include:
• Engineering feasibility and technical assistance studies
• Detailed analysis of specific energy efficiency projects
• Process improvement
• Rate analysis, load shapes, and energy service aggregation
• Engineering in support of project-financing proposals
• Long term capital budget strategies to upgrade or replace equipment

The following customers are eligible for the Technical Assistance Program:
• New York State (NYS) industrial and commercial facilities
• State and local governments
• Not-for-profit and private institutions
• Public and private K-12 schools, colleges, universities and health care facilities

Prerequisites [back to top]  
1.  Customers must provide information on electric and gas utility provider and account numbers, total annual energy costs, energy cost by source (electricity versus natural gas), and a description of assistance required through FlexTech.
2.  Submit a FlexTech Referral Form either directly online (via link under Apply Online above) or via fax (download form under Links to Application Materials above).
3.  Select a qualified consultant who will be the Service Provider for the given project. Customers must choose from one of NYSERDA's pre-qualified FlexTech consultants (see Links to Additional Information above). A NYSERDA representative can assist customers in the selection of a FlexTech consultant. Call or email NYSERDA (see Contact Information below) for additional information and assistance.

Customers with electric utility bills less than $75,000 annually may also be eligible for the Energy Audit Program which provides low-cost, walk-through energy audits (see link to NYSERDA Energy Audit Program under Links to Additional Information above).
