Sales at Eight Long Island Indian Smoke Shops That Have Cost New York Taxpayers
$720 Million in Lost Revenue
Mayor Bloomberg and Corporation Counsel Cardozo announced today
that the City of New York filed a complaint in the Federal District Court
for the Eastern District of New York against eight Long Island businesses
located on the Poospatuck Indian reservation in Mastic, Long Island, for
illegally selling massive quantities of cigarettes on which State and City
taxes have not been paid, in violation of the Federal Contraband Cigarette
Trafficking Act and State law.

Mayor Bloomberg Unveils New Online Tool to Track Potholes and Street Defects
Found by SCOUT Teams and New Secret Shopper Program to Test City's Customer
Service
Mayor Bloomberg today unveiled a new online tool that tracks the work of
the Mayor's Office of Operations' Street Conditions Observation Unit (SCOUT)
team and will be available to New Yorkers on the City's website, nyc.gov.
The SCOUT team, in operation since October 2007, is a group of inspectors
whose mission is to drive every City street once per month and report conditions
that negatively impact quality of life to 311.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the New Housing Marketplace
Plan, New York City's $7.5 billion plan to build and preserve affordable
housing for 500,000 New Yorkers, has funded more than 82,500 units - half

Mayor Bloomberg Presents $59.1 Billion
FY 2009 Executive Budget
Mayor Bloomberg today announced his Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Executive Budget
and presented an updated four-year financial plan for New York City. The
$59.1 billion budget maintains the City's firm financial footing in the
near term by reining in expenditures across the city, with city-funded
spending expected to only grow by 0.1 percent.
