Dear Partners, Volunteers, Friends and Supporters of We Are New York:
On behalf of the Mayor’s Office and the City University of New York we want to thank you for your continued commitment and partnership to helping New York City’s immigrant communities improve their English proficiency. We also want to take this time to update you on We Are New York.
As you know, We Are New York provides wonderful opportunities to our communities. Dozens of English for Speakers of Other Languages classes throughout our city are using We Are New York materials as instructional tools; over 300 partners run community-based conversation groups; over 900 volunteers have been trained to lead groups; and new partnerships continue to be formed to create a greater network of support and opportunity for New York’s immigrant communities. As a result, thousands of adult English language learners have benefitted from We Are New York. Though the initial funding for the project has ended we continue to actively seek support and partnerships and are absolutely committed to providing access and opportunities for New Yorkers.
We understand there is some confusion about the future of We Are New York. To be clear, we maintain our commitment to continue to support WANY and our partners, and most of all - our immigrant communities - in the best way possible. You will be hearing from us with more detailed information in the coming days.
All the materials are downloadable and available on the site at no cost, and all episodes are available for streaming on-line. If you have specific questions please feel free to write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We want to hear from you.
Once again, thank you for all that you have helped us achieve with We Are New York.
