DOT will give away free bike helmets while supplies last. Helmets are available for all ages. You must be present to get a helmet and you must learn how to properly fit and wear it before you receive it. Adults over 18 receiving a helmet must sign a waiver, and a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for children under age 18.

Queens- 2014 Fleet Show

This show features over 100 vendors serving a wide variety of city fleet needs. It includes Safe Passage and Green Mile areas with offerings that can help the city make its fleet safer, cleaner and greener. The show, now in its 26th Year, is free to all and open to the public at the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, 9 AM to 2 PM

Some of the types of exhibits at the show include:

  • Collision avoidance and collision mitigation technologies.
  • Truck side-guard devices.
  • GPS, AVL, cameras, and other technologies for tracking vehicles and improving safety.
  • Alternative fuel vehicles and equipment running on biodiesel, CNG, electricity, and solar power.
  • Hybrid vehicles and dual fuel vehicles.
  • Vendors offering fuel type conversions.
  • Providers of conventional fuels, alternative fuels, and fuel management systems.
  • Police vehicles and accessories.
  • Wheelchair accessible vans.
  • Vendors supporting NYC's citywide fleet programs.
  • Automotive High School's internship program.
  • Exhibits from our fellow agencies.

Empire Clean Cities will hold its annual meeting from 8:30 to 12 in conjunction with the show. Empire Clean Cities is an environmental organization that works with government and industry to ensure clean air for future generations.
