are several benefits for veterans and members of the
armed forces administered by various New York City agencies, including State and

New York City
Benefits
Using ACCESS NYC, you can screen your family for over 20
City, State and Federal health and human service benefit programs in seven
languages. You can also learn how to apply, search for office locations,
and partially complete and print applications for some of the
programs.
Federal Benefits
The US Department of Veteran Affairs offers a range of
benefits for veterans and their families. Comprehensive health care is
available for veterans, trauma counseling is provided at sites throughout the
New York-New Jersey area for veterans and/or their families. A variety of
other benefits are available, including vocational, employment, loans and burial
services. Some benefits are based on eligibility.
VONAPP (Veterans On-Line Applications) is an official
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) website, that enables veterans to apply
for benefits using the Internet. U.S. military veterans and some service
members within six months of separation or retirement can apply for
compensation, pension, and vocational rehabilitation benefits.
U.S.
military veterans, service members with two years of service, and members of the
Selected Reserve can apply for education benefits.
