We are pleased to announce that the NYC Voter Assistance Commission (VAC), with support of the Mayor's Office, will be sponsoring the first-ever Voter Awareness Month, which will take place from September to October 2006.
The Voter Assistance Commission is a non-partisan government agency, established by the Charter in 1988, dedicated to increasing voter participation in the democratic process by encouraging and facilitating voter registration and voting by all eligible United States citizens who are residents of New York City.
Voter Awareness Month is a citywide initiative created to stimulate greater voter awareness and participation. We are asking you to join our efforts to reach out to all New Yorkers by hosting a voting/civic awareness event during Voter Awareness Month. Possible activities include voter registration drives, educational workshops, and panel discussions. VAC will work closely with your agency to coordinate these activities. These events will be presented in a VAC-produced Voter Awareness Month Calendar, which will be made available electronically and in print.
Sincerely,
Onida Coward Mayers
