This search engine allows users to compare cities across a variety of characteristics of their geography, population, economy, transportation systems, education, tourism, health, culture, and environment.

The databank was launched in the summer of 2008 with information for 52 cities, and we continue to add more cities. The data was collected from official government sources wherever information was publicly available as well as from academic studies and encyclopedias, among other sources. (The source and year of the information will appear when you place your cursor over the data point.)  Cities interested in updating their data or being added to the databank are invited to contact us.
