• My summons hearing is scheduled at the LIC facility, but I want to have the hearing by Video Conferencing at the Staten Island facility. How do I do that?

You must appear at the TLC’s Staten Island facility on the date your matter is scheduled to be heard ½ hour before the scheduled start time of the scheduled summons hearing and tell the staff that you are there for your hearing. You must tell them that you want to have your hearing using the video conferencing option. You will be required to sign a document that you waive your right to see, or have the ALJ see, original documents submitted as evidence when you receive your decision from the TLC Judge. You will still be able to plead not guilty. We will fax any evidence you bring to support your case to the courtroom in our LIC office for the ALJ to review. Your hearing will be conducted through the use of video monitors that will allow the ALJ to see you and hear you and for you to see and hear them. You will be able to communicate directly with the Judge. This pilot program is for summons hearings only. Applicant fitness hearings and hearings at OATH are NOT included in this pilot program. If you have any questions about the process please contact the TLC’s Call Center at (718) 391-5501.
