Reebok Grand Prix
What: Reebok Grand Prix
When: Saturday, June 2, 2007 - 5:00pm
Where:: Icahn Stadium (Randall's Island)

The Reebok Grand Prix, one of the top international track & field events in the country and the third stop in USA Track & Field’s VISA Championship Series, returned to Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island for the third consecutive year. American Tyson Gay electrified the crowd with his victory in the 100m final with a wind-aided time of 9.76 seconds. China’s Liu Xiang won the 110m hurdles in 12.92 seconds, just 0.04 off of his world record. Alan Webb outlasted Bernard Lagat in the much anticipated Mile Run, running a time of 3:52.94. Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba dominated her 5000m run with a time of 14:35.67, defeating 2nd-place finisher Kim Smith by an astounding 40 seconds. The event featured one American record, as Jenn Stuczynski notched an amazing 16 feet in the pole vault.

Gay’s time of 9.76 seconds in the 100m was thought to be a new world record, but due to strong winds of 2.2 meters per second which are over the legal 2.0 limit, his record did not stand. Gay outlasted 2004 Olympic gold-medalist Shawn Crawford and Derrick Atkins for the victory. Other American winners were James Carter (men’s 400m hurdles), Hazel Clark (women’s 800m), Khadevis Robinson (men’s 800m), Rachelle Smith (women’s 200m), Wallace Spearmon (men’s 200m), Allyson Felix (women’s 400m) and Virginia Powell (women’s 100m hurdles).

Icahn Stadium, a state-of-the-art facility on Randall's Island featuring a 400-meter Mondo track and covered seating for spectators, is the premier outdoor track-and-field venue in New York City. Built by the Randall's Island Sports Foundation (RISF) in partnership with New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Icahn Stadium celebrated its grand opening in April 2005.
