The 2008 Public School Athletic League (PSAL) baseball championships, held at Shea Stadium, featured the top two teams from the "A" and "B" Divisions. George Washington HS upset previously undefeated James Madison HS by a score of 4-0 in the class “A” championship, while Morris HS defeated Bayard Rustin Educational Complex 2-0 to win the class “B” championship.
In the 2008 Class “A” PSAL baseball championships, No. 3 seed George Washington High School defeated No.1 seed Madison High School 4-0 in 11 innings. Jean Carlos Rodriguez singled in the top of the 11th to start the winning rally. Miguel Nunez soon put George Washington on the board when he singled home two runs to give the Trojans the lead. The victory marked the first PSAL Championship for George Washington High School since 1997.
In the 2008 Class “B” PSAL baseball championships, No. 3 seed Morris High School upset the undefeated No 1. seed Bayard Rustin Educational Complex 2-0. Sophomore starter Idaury Peralta pitched a one-hit shutout to pick up the complete game victory on just 91 pitches. Carlos Jos Jimenez led the offense with two hits while Stephen Marquez drove in both RBIs. Morris HS had previously lost to Bayard 8-5 in the Monroe Tournament back in April.
