What Is Judo?
Judo is a major Olympic sport that involves throws, holds, grabs and various techniques. Judo, a grappling martial art, is far more like Greco-Roman wrestling than the punching and kicking sports like karate. Developed in Japan in the late 19th century, Judo uses principles of balance and leverage adapted from jujitsu. Judo was introduced into the Olympic Games in 1964 and is practiced by millions of people throughout the world today.
