Ike “Bazooka” Quartey vs. Vernon Forrest

Former two-time world champion Vernon Forrest scored a unanimous decision over Ike Quartey, in a junior middleweight bout at Madison Square Garden. Quartey (37-3-1, 31 KOs) lost the fight even though he landed more punches than Forrest (38-2-0, 28 KOs), who was also deducted one point in the ninth round for a low blow. The three judges scored the fight 95-94, 95-94 and 96-93--all in favor of Forrest.

The co-featured junior middleweight match saw former champion Kassim Ouma (25-2-1, 15 KOs) continue his strong comeback by picking up a 10-round decision over previously undefeated Sechew Powell (20-1, 12 KOs). The judges ruled the fight 100-90, 96-94 and 97-93.

On the undercard, undefeated welterweight Andre Berto (14-0, 12 KOs) dominated Roberto Valenzuela (37-25-2, 33KOs) in one round to pick up another knockout victory. Jaidon Codrington (12-1, 10 KOs) scored a unanimous decision over former champion Carl Daniels (49-10-1, 31 KOs) with all three cards reading 60-54 in favor of Codrington. Pat Nwamu (12-1, 4 KOs) stopped John Battle (14-17-1, 7 KOs) in three rounds and Darling Jimenez (20-2-2, 11 KOs) knocked out Arturo Brambila (8-8, 4 KOs) in the first round.
