World Waterski Pros
What: MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Championships
When: June 17-19, 2005
Where: Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Over 80 of the world’s top male and female water ski athletes from more than 20 countries made history when they participated at the 2005 MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Championship in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The three-day competition was the first professional waterskiing event ever held in New York City. As athletes participated in the slalom, jump and shortboard events, spectators were able to test drive boats at nearby Lake Hopatcong.

Four U.S. water ski athletes won the title of MasterCraft Pro Champion. Jimmy Siemers won the men’s shortboard competition with two perfect passes and a score of 10,280 points. In the men’s slalom, Jamie Beauchesne won the championship title with a score of 3 @ 39.5 (63 total buoys). Freddy Krueger, winner of the men’s jump, had the furthest jump of the whole competition with his opening 231-foot jump. Scoring 7,790 points, Mandy Nightingale won the women’s shortboard.

Australia’s Emma Sheers won both the women’s slalom and jumps competition. Sheers swept the slalom event with a score of 1.5 @ 39.5 (61.5 total buoys). In the jumps competition, Sheers jumped 170 feet for the win.
