New York Liberty Outdoor Classic - July 19

The New York Liberty will play the first regular season WNBA outdoor game in history On July 19 when they host the Indiana Fever in Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center—home of the US Open. For more information, please visit our Outdoor Classic Page.
 
2008 New York Liberty Draft Recap

The New York Liberty drafted Rutgers guard Essence Carson with the #7-overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. Carson averaged 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in her senior season as she was named to the All-Big East second team. She was also a three-time winner of the Big East Defensive Player of the Year. The Liberty also added North Carolina forward Erlana Larkens with the #14-overall pick in the draft. Larkin averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds and was named to the AP All-American Second Team.

In the second round, the Liberty added Duke guard Wanisha Smith and Tennessee guard Alberta Auguste. Smith leaves Duke as their fourth all-time career assists leader with 496, while Auguste helped Tennessee win back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008.
