COMMISSIONER PODZIBA WELCOMES THE JORDAN BRAND CLASSIC

On April 19, New York City Sports Commissioner Kenneth J. Podziba will welcome the Jordan Brand Classic presented by Foot Locker and Boost Mobile to Madison Square Garden. The Classic, one of the nation's most prestigious high school all-star basketball events, will feature an All-American game showcasing the country's top high school seniors tipping-off at 9:00pm, a regional game for the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area at 6:30pm, and an international game featuring top under-17 players from Europe, Australia, and Africa at 4:00pm. Headlining the 2008 All-American Game will be Al-Farouq Aminu (Wake Forest), Demar DeRozan (USC), Tyreke Evans (Undecided), Jrue Holiday (UCLA), Brandon Jennings (Arizona), Greg Monroe (Georgetown), B.J. Mullens (Ohio State) and New York City's Kemba Walker (UConn).

"There is no better place than Madison Square Garden - the Mecca of Basketball, for the Jordan Brand Classic to showcase the nation's premier high school basketball players," said Commissioner Podziba. "Basketball enthusiasts will have an opportunity to get a preview of future NCAA and NBA superstars in what promises to be an exciting, crowd pleasing game full of high-flying dunks, crisp passes and laser-accurate shooting."

In addition to the All-American game featuring the nation's top players, the Jordan Brand Classic will also include a regional game that will showcase the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area in a City vs. Suburbs showdown. New to the event this year will be an international game featuring 16 of the top 17-and-under players from Europe, Australia and Africa. A portion of the proceeds from the Classic will benefit the New York City-based charity, the Children's Aid Society.

"Over the six-year history of the Jordan Brand Classic we have accumulated a prominent list of alumni," said Garry Cook, President of Jordan Brand. "This year's game is no different as the elite players in the country will once again step foot in the World's Most Famous Arena and benefit a great cause in the Children's Aid Society."

The Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans will also participate in the Boost Mobile Celebrity JamFest at LIU - Brooklyn's Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center on Thursday, April 17 at 7:00pm. This fun-filled competition will include a player's skill competition, a celebrity hotshot contest and a slam dunk contest.

Recent Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans have included NBA stars Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul as well as current NCAA standouts Eric Gordon (Indiana), Derrick Rose (Memphis), Donte Greene (Syracuse), Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina), Kyle Singler (Duke) and Jerryd Bayless (Arizona).

Sponsored by Jordan Brand, the event is also annually attended by some of sport and entertainment's biggest stars, who have included Michael Jordan, Spike Lee, LL Cool J, Warren Sapp, Terrell Owens, Floyd Mayweather, Kanye West, Fat Joe, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, Ahmad Rashad and Vince Carter.
