COMMISSIONERS PODZIBA & BENEPE WELCOME FC INTERNAZIONALE MILANO'S INTERVILLAGE TO NYC
On August 23-24, New York City Sports Commissioner Kenneth J. Podziba and New York City Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe will welcome Inter Milan's Intervillage soccer clinic to Juniper Valley Park in Queens. Intervillage is a unique soccer clinic specifically developed by legendary soccer club FC Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) to test and train young players' skills with an emphasis on fun. The clinic will be conducted by some of Inter Milan's top youth coaches and admission is free and open to youth players, coaches and parents. The clinic will run from 10:00am-6:00pm both Saturday and Sunday.
"It is only fitting that FC Internazionale Milano, one of the world's most legendary soccer franchises, host their Intervillage clinic in New York City's mecca of soccer--Queens," said Commissioner Podziba. "I would like to extend a warm welcome to Inter's coaches and thank them for helping enrich our City's youth soccer community."
The goal of Intervillage is to develop the whole family's passion for the game by encouraging the practice of soccer through dedicated drills and skills clinics, all to the rhythm of music. The Intervillage playground is made up of sophisticated inflatables and structures designed to enhance the performance of youth soccer players. The focus is on teaching soccer skills and techniques in the best Italian tradition. A portion of each day will be dedicated to specific "training clinics" for local coaches interested in sharing coaching and training practices, and for parents of young players who want to learn basic skills.
"Parks welcomes Inter Milan's Intervillage soccer clinic to the beautiful Juniper Valley Park. This park is home to numerous athletic opportunities for all including soccer, basketball, roller hockey, handball and bocce," said Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe. "Our primary goal is to make parks a world of play for all visitors. This festival of soccer is a wonderful way to introduce the sport to the city's young athletes and bring players of all ages out into the park."
Juniper Valley Park is located in Middle Village, Queens. For more information about Intervillage, please visit www.inter.it/intervillage.
