Peter Jay Sharp Head of the Harlem Regatta
What: Peter Jay Sharp Head of the Harlem Regatta
When: November 1, 2008
Where: Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse in Swindler Cove Park

Over 400 rowers representing 15 teams competed in the Peter Jay Sharp Head of the Harlem Regatta. The teams were comprised of club, college, and high school rowers from the Tri-State area.

Thousands of spectators watched the races which began near the base of Yankee Stadium and finished at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse. Rowers competed in head races--a class of regattas approximately three miles in length--where boats race against each other and the clock.

All proceeds from the regatta benefited NYRA’s Young Scholars Crew. The Young Scholars Crew is a group of New York City youth who row the Hudson River in hopes of gaining educational opportunities through the sport of rowing.
