Established in 2003, the Queens Grand Prix Series is comprised of five races open to all runners, regardless of club affiliation or residence. The series was created through a partnership between the Alley Pond Striders, College Point Road Runners Track Club, Forest Park Road Runners, Hellgate Road Runners and Quantum Feet.

The Forest Park Runners Club is a running club that has been in existence for twenty-five years. They meet every month in the Parks Department clubhouse located at Forest Park Drive and Woodhaven Boulevard. Each year the Forest Park Runners Club has a spring race as part of the Queens Grand Prix Series. Parts of the proceeds are donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in order to further the causes of cancer research and cures. Over the years, they have donated more than $12,000 for this worthy cause with the help of local merchants such as Grimaldis Home of Bread, McDonalds of Glendale, Ridgewood Savings Bank and Linda's Organic Kitchen and Markets.
