What: BATTLE OF THE BADGES: FDNY BRAVEST BOXING vs NYPD FIGHTING FINEST
When: Saturday, November 22, 2008 – Doors open 7:00pm
Where:: Aviator Sports Complex - Brooklyn, NY

New York's Finest and Bravest went toe-to-toe in a 10-bout fight card in front of a sold-out crowd at the Aviator Sports Complex at Floyd Bennett Field. In the end, the NYPD prevailed over the FDNY six bouts to four in the competitive but friendly event. Proceeds from the evening were donated to the Police Athletic League's community programs for New York City youth.

The winning police officers for the NYPD Fighting Finest Boxing team were Greg Tuesday, Greg Waith, Hebert Medina, Mark Sinatra, Joan Allen and Juan Rodriguez. Firefighter Susan Merlucci defeated police officer Tanika Harbor in the first ever women’s bout. The 26 year rivalry between NYPD and FDNY is now knotted at 13-13.

The event benefited the Police Athletic League's (PAL) community programs. The PAL provides New York City's youth with an alternative to crime, gangs and drugs. Today, the PAL services over 70,000 boys and girls in 19 full-time centers and 53 part-time centers throughout New York City.
