Cyclones-Yanks Playoff Preview
The McNamara Division champion Brooklyn Cyclones will face-off against the Wild Card Staten Island Yankees in the best-of-three first round series of the New York-Penn League (NYPL) playoffs. The two-time defending champion Yanks come in as the underdogs against the Cyclones who owned the league’s best record this season.
The Cyclones offense will be piloted by catcher Jason Jacobs, who led the NYPL with 12 homers along with 46 RBI. Pitcher Dylan Owen will look to continue his regular season success into the playoffs. Owen led the NYPL in wins (9) and owned a league-low ERA of 1.49.
The Cyclones will face a scrappy Yankees team featuring leadoff man and NYPL runs-scored champ Justin Snyder. #3-hitter Braedyn Pruitt, owner of the NYPL’s second highest batting average at .347, will lead a potent offense that ranked in the top five in several offensive categories including hits, RBIs and batting average.
The winner of the series will face the winner of the Auburn-Oneonta series beginning on Thursday, September 13.
