The Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race enjoyed a 4-day stopover in Manhattan's North Cove prior to making their final trip across the Atlantic Ocean. The ten-strong fleet of 68-foot Dubois 68s sailed into the Cove on June 1. The yachts departed June 4 for Nova Scotia, Canada, where the Nova Scotia led the fleet into Cable Wharf at Halifax Waterfront on June 8. It was the final stop before the race back to Liverpool, England.
Each of the ten yachts competing in Clipper 07-08 represents an international city including the New York City entry skippered by Duggie Gillespie. Other cities with yachts include Durban (South Africa), Fremantle (Australia), Nova Scotia (Canada), Liverpool and Yorkshire (England), Glasgow (Scotland), Port Antonio (Jamaica), Qingdao (China), and Singapore. The event is now on its 6th circuit around the globe.
The fleet departed Liverpool, England on September 16, 2007 and has since raced across all the major oceans and visited ten countries. The yachts are scheduled to arrive back in Liverpool on July 5th, 2008.
