JPMorgan Corporate Challenge

JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship

When: Saturday, October 6, 2007
Where: 270 Park Avenue

Over 230,000 participants from five continents participated in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, a 3.5-mile invitational race that brought together the winning male, female, and mixed teams from each of the host cities of the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series. Claire Martin of London’s Royal Mail Letters finished the race in 19:17 to win her third consecutive title. On the men’s side, Enos Matalane of Transnet Rail Engineering in Johannesburg, South Africa won his second title in three years, finishing the race in 15:54.

Johannesburg’s Transnet Rail Engineering took home the title as the top men’s team finishing the 3.5-mile race with an aggregate time of 1:06:11. The top women’s team was Polizei Hessen of Frankfurt, Germany with a collective time of 1:26:37. Royal Mail Letters also had the top time among mixed teams at 1:15:32.

The men’s, women’s and mixed teams that finished in the top 20-percent of the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series received an invitation to the Championship. All participants had to enter as part of a corporate team.

JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge

Start: Central Park (North side of Strawberry Fields- 74th St and West Drive)

Runners from corporations throughout the city participated in the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge in an effort to raise money for the Central Park Conservancy. Karl Dusen of AIG successfully defended his 2006 men's individual title and Jessie Webb of GlaxoSmithKline earned her second JPMorgan Chase women’s title of 2007.

Dusen won the men’s race in an impressive 17:25, out-dueling John Traugott (17:47) of Credit Suisse and Morgan Thompson (18:17) of CS Technology. Webb won the Rochester Corporate Challenge on May 31 in 20:08, and tamed the Central Park course in 20:03. Finishing second was her GSK teammate Christa Meyer (20:24). Finishing third in the women’s race was Katarina Melville of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking (20:27). With this year’s sold out field, the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge has now hosted more than 1.1 million participants in Central Park since 1977.

About the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series
Over 200,000 runners representing 7,000 companies from all over the globe are expected to take part in this series of 3.5 mile races that will span twelve cities, six countries and five continents. The men’s, women’s and mixed teams that finish in the top 20% receive an invitation to the Championship at the end of the year. All participants have to enter as part of a corporate team. Winning runners and teams receive a $500 donation to the charities of their choice. Proceeds from the event benefit the Central Park Conservancy.
