Runners from six countries participated in the 24th JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Championship, a 3.5-mile invitational race that brings together the winning male, female, and mixed teams from each of the host cities of the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series. Angus MacLean of Great Britain’s Hampshire & Dorset Health Care team captured the individual male title with a time 16:31. Following Angus were Emmanuel Mkhabela (16:36), Thabang Mohale (16:38) and Johannes Ndala (16:49)—all from South Africa-based Transwerk corporation. Claire Martin (London, England) successfully defended her individual female title by finishing in 19:14, besting Christie’s Inc.’s Caitlin Tormey (19:29) and GlaxoSmithKline’s Christa Downey (19:47). In the team competition, Transwerk (1:07:02) finished as the top male team, New York’s GlaxoSmithKline (1:23:52) won the female title and Royal Mail Letters (1:16:45) of London had the best mixed time.

JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge

The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge returned to Central Park for its 30th season. Over 750,000 people from businesses and corporations throughout Metropolitan New York have participated in this event since its debut in 1977. 200,000 runners representing 7,000 companies from all over the globe are expected to take part in this series of 3.5 mile races that will span twelve cities, six countries and five continents.

Over 17,500 runners competed in the two-day New York event which served as one of the qualifiers for the Chase Corporate Challenge Championship. The men’s, women’s and mixed teams that finished in the top 20-percent received an invitation to the Championship which will be held in New York City on October 7, 2006. All participants had to enter as part of a corporate team. Winning runners and teams received a $500 donation to the charities of their choice. Proceeds from the event benefited the Central Park Conservancy.
