Adaptive Adventures |
"The sum of the parts is geater than the whole."
Adaptive Adventures mission is to identify, promote, and provide
progressive recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and
their families.
The vision of the program is:
To create an information resource for members of the disabled community providing greater accessibility to existing recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and their families
To use recreational opportunities to promote independence and motivate people with physical disabilities to expand personal boundaries and go beyond their physical limitations
To promote higher quality instruction for adaptive sports and recreation through offering clinics for other instructors and volunteers, as well as providing manuals, books and other resources for running different adaptive recreation activities
To develop a greater number of participants, teachers, and role models throughout the disabled community
To offer educational programs designed to increase understanding of and participation in recreational opportunities for all people
To offer scholarship opportunities for individuals with special needs
Adaptive Adventures offers opportunities primarily for people with
physical disabilities including amputations, paraplegia, quadriplegia,
cerebral palsy, head injury, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy,
spina bifida, stroke and visual impairments.
Adaptive Adventures is a non-profit, organization.
They are also a chapter of Disabled Sports USA, the leading governing
body for disabled athletics in the country.
