Citywide Infrastructure and the Built
Environment

The Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency (SIRR) addressed how to rebuild New York City to be more resilient in the wake of Sandy with a long-term focus. One of the main tasks was to address how to improve citywide infrastructure and building resilience.

SIRR’s Citywide Infrastructure and Built Environment Team focused on a system-by-system analysis of how to improve citywide infrastructure and building resilience. This analysis is centered on the following key areas:

  • Coastal Protection
  • Built Environment
  • Insurance
  • Energy
    • Utilities
    • Liquid Fuels
  • Healthcare
  • Telecommunications
  • Transportation
  • Water and Wastewater
  • Solid Waste
  • Food Supply
  • Parks

If you would like to give feedback about any of these issues – or citywide resilience in general – please email us.
