“When my work contract ended, I went to the Bronx Workforce1 Career Center. There they talked to me about my kitchen experience, helped me with the application process, and matched me up with a job in the bakery department at Whole Foods. Workforce1 helped me build a career in an area I really like.”

A Citywide Effort Benefiting Thousands of New Yorkers
Since Mayor Bloomberg strengthened the Workforce Investment Board and reorganized the workforce system in 2003, remarkable progress has been achieved. Strategic, business-driven programs have dramatically increased the number of New Yorkers placed into jobs and the number of businesses that have hired and trained current employees through the workforce system. The success of New York City's demand-driven approach to workforce development has made it model for workforce systems throughout the United States and abroad.
