Jeanne B. Mullgrav was appointed as the Commissioner of the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in April 2002. Using federal, state, and City funding, DYCD administers youth and community development contracts - numbering 2,000 - with a network of nearly 1,000 community-based organizations throughout New York City. Additionally, DYCD helps community-based organizations to develop their capacity to provide high-quality services. Commissioner Mullgrav previously served as the Vice President for External Relations at The After-School Corporation, and as the Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Relations for New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. Commissioner Mullgrav also held successive senior management positions at Safe Horizon. She serves on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations, including The Fund for Modern Courts. In 1998, Chief Judge Judith Kaye appointed her to the Committee to Promote Public Trust and Confidence in the Legal System, and she served as a member of the New York State Crime Victims Board Advisory Council. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the New York University School of Law, and resides in the Bronx.
