Deborah King is currently Executive Director of the 1199 Employment, Training and Job Security Program. It is one of the most comprehensive joint labor-management programs in the United States, covering almost 500 employers and over 200,000 health care workers from a wide range of job classifications including service, clerical, technical, professional, and registered nurses. The program provides a wide range of training and education benefits, as well as job placement services for both employed and laid-off health care workers. The fund also supports labor-management activities, including worker involvement in re-engineering, quality care issues and recruitment and retention projects. Ms. King has previously served in both Union staff and elected positions and has extensive experience in collective bargaining and partnership projects. Ms. King is also a faculty member of the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University, where her areas of concentration are collective bargaining, worker participation, and work and family issues.
