Rocco Damato is the CEO of A.L. Bazzini Co., Inc., which has been producing quality nuts, dried fruits, and confections for more than 100 years. An accomplished food and restaurant entrepreneur, Mr. Damato opened his first venture, The Sea Catch Restaurant, with partners in 1977. He then founded Carriage House Food, having organized purchasing, production, sales, marketing and financing of the start-up company. In 1983, Mr. Damato led Carriage House Food’s acquisition of A.L. Bazzini Co. Serving as A.L. Bazzini’s president, he brokered the subsequent acquisitions of All Brands Food, Oroko, Village Farms, and Jos. E. Haas Co. Mr. Damato’s early career includes military intelligence experience with the United States Army and teaching experience in the Smithtown Public School District, where he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Smithtown Classroom Teacher Association. Mr. Damato serves as Chairman of the Job Development Committee of the Bronx Overall Development Corporation. He also served as a member of Manhattan Community Board 1 from 1989-1997, where he served as Chairman of the Quality of Life Committee and Vice Chairman of the City Services Committee. He is a founding member and Director of Taste of Tribeca. Mr. Damato earned a B.A. in History from The State University of New York-Cortland and M.S. from The State University of New York-New Paltz. He received a Fulbright Scholarship to India in 1975 and was a member of a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) trade mission to El Salvador in 1992.
