How It Can Help

New York Public Library 
  • Provides over 25,000 free programs in 89 locations throughout the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island, including basic computer and ESL classes
State University of New York (SUNY) 
  • Provides New Yorkers educational services in a complete range of academic, professional and vocational postsecondary programs

Department of Education’s Office of Adult and Continuing Education 

  • The largest provider of adult literacy education services in the state, covering everything from ESL courses to GED preparation. 
  • Offers over 900 classes for adults age 21 and over. Operates four Adult Learning Centers located in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx.
  • Offers day and evening classes Monday through Saturday at more than 175 sites in all five boroughs.  All classes are taught by certified teachers and are offered free of charge (tuition-free)

City University of New York (CUNY) 

  • Offers post-secondary learning at every level, in every field of interest
  • 1,750 programs, more than 230 majors leading to associate and baccalaureate degrees, and more than 160 graduate-degree majors.
