The NYC Department of Small Business
Services wants to ensure that your employees gain the skills they need to make
your business more profitable and productive. NYC Business Solutions Training
Funds provide New York City employers with funding and support to develop the
skills of their workers and promote career advancement for their
employees.
Benefits of Training Funds:

Up to $400,000 provided to fund 60-70% of eligible training costs, with the employer paying the balance.

Wide range of training accepted. Funding is available for training that is on-the-job, off-site, led by your own manager or external training providers. In addition to occupational skills, funding is also available for English as a Second Language, adult literacy, and math training.

Access to free one-on-one assistance throughout the application process.
Eligibility requirements:

Applicants must be one of the following:
-
Individual business training its own employees
-
Consortium administrator representing 2 or more businesses with similar training needs. Examples of consortium administrators include business associations, labor unions, training providers, or a lead business for the proposal.

Applicants must propose to train at least 10 employees.

Applicants must require between $10,000 and $400,000 in funding.

Trainees must be full-time and employed at a worksite that is located in New York City (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens or Staten Island) by the end of training.

All trainees must earn less than $63,694 prior to training.

Applicants must propose wage gains for at least 50% of incumbent trainees upon successful completion of the training program.

Eligible training programs must be new, expanded, or enhanced.

Application process:
Companies must first complete a 10-minute pre-application. Once your pre-application is received, an account manager will contact you. If you are eligible, you will be sent the full application. For more information on the pre-application and application timeline, please see the tentative calendar below.

Training Provider Selection:
Training Funds applicants may propose to train their own employees internally or may use an external training provider. To search for training providers, applicants can use the Training Provider Directory (http://mtprawvwsbswtp.nyc.gov/Search/Search.aspx). Please note that the Training Provider Directory is just one source among many and that training providers do not have to be in the Training Provider Directory to receive Training Funds.
