The NYC Department of Small Business Services wants to ensure that your employees gain the skills they need to make your business more profitable and productive. NYC Business Solutions Training Funds provide New York City employers with funding and support to develop the skills of their workers and promote career advancement for their employees.

Benefits of Training Funds:

  • Up to $400,000 provided to fund 60-70% of eligible training costs, with the employer paying the balance.
  • Wide range of training accepted. Funding is available for training that is on-the-job, off-site, led by your own manager or external training providers. In addition to occupational skills, funding is also available for English as a Second Language, adult literacy, and math training.
  • Access to free one-on-one assistance throughout the application process.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be one of the following:
    • Individual business
    • Consortium administrator representing 3 or more businesses with similar training needs. Consortium administrators may be business associations, labor unions, training providers, or a lead business for the proposal.
  • Applicants must be in one of the following sectors: (Click here for sector definitions)
    • Financial Services
    • Food Services/Accommodations
    • Healthcare
    • Information/Professional Services
    • Manufacturing
    • Retail
    • Transportation
    • Construction
  • Applicants must propose to train at least 10 employees.
  • Applicants must require between $10,000 and $400,000 in funding.
  • Trainees must be employed at a worksite that is located in New York City (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens or Staten Island).
  • Applicants must propose wage gains for at least 50% of trainees upon successful completion of the training program.
  • Eligible training programs must be new, recently expanded, or enhanced.

Application process:

Companies must first complete a 10-minute pre-application. Once your pre-application is received, an account manager will contact you. If you are eligible, you will be sent the full application.
