The Neighborhood Development Division (NDD) has been working with its local partners in Hurricane Sandy-impacted areas to ensure that the businesses and the neighborhoods they serve bounce back stronger than ever.
From working with consultants to develop business attraction strategies to organizing merchants into new local development corporations, NDD has leveraged key recovery tools to make sure that business districts develop the capacity to sustain themselves economically. With $250,000 in critical financial support from our partners at MasterCard, NDD has been working to build the capacity and strategic planning abilities of key commercial corridors impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Our recovery initiatives continue to bolster the local economy and quality of life in five target neighborhoods. NDD leveraged partnerships with City Hall, Citi Community Development, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, and IBM Corporate Citizenship to develop additional programming to support business recovery needs.
