Welcome

Welcome to The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD). Established in 1973, MOPD functions as a liaison between the community and City government, and works collaboratively with other agencies to meet the needs of people with disabilities. From MOPD's pages there are links to other city agencies, including the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). MOPD also advises the Department of Buildings (DOB) on implementation of Building Code accessibility provisions (Local Law 58) as well as administers Project Open House, a home barrier removal program. There is information for architects and builders, people searching for housing, transportation, and more. We hope that you find our Web page a valuable tool.
