Third Annual Work to End Domestic Violence Day and Awareness MonthToday is the Third Annual Work to End Domestic Violence Day and the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. New York City is proud to join employers across the nation to help work to end domestic violence in our families, communities and workplaces. Look for the informational newsletter about domestic violence being distributed throughout the agency. This newsletter contains statistics on abuse, including facts on relationship abuse among teenagers, information on city-wide initiatives to combat domestic violence, and suggestions on how you can help. City employees are encouraged to develop agency or department-wide events to increase awareness and to help support domestic violence victims. Domestic violence is everyone's responsibility, and we urge you to become involved in the fight against this deadly epidemic by organizing efforts in your own department. If you need assistance, please contact the Mayor's Commission to Combat Family Violence at (212) 788-3156. IF YOU, OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW, ARE LIVING WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, PLEASE SEEK ASSISTANCE. CALL NEW YORK CITY'S 24-HOUR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE AND SPEAK WITH A TRAINED COUNSELOR AT 1-800-621-HOPE. Please read the attached informational newsletter(19 KB in pdf format) about domestic violence. Also, read the Mayor's Message on this subject. Contact Us | FAQs | Privacy Statement | Site Map |
