In April 2009, Mayor Bloomberg launched NYC Service, the office tasked with setting a new standard for how cities can tap the power of their people to tackle their most pressing challenges. PlaNYC is Mayor Bloomberg’s vision of how to tackle the most pressing environmental and infrastructure problems in the City.
NYC Service oversees more than 38 innovative initiatives that aim to achieve three overarching goals: making our City the easiest place in the world to volunteer, targeting volunteers to address the city’s greatest needs and promoting service as a core part of what it means to be a citizen of the greatest City in the world.
PlaNYC, a plan committed to creating a greener, greater New York, looks to improve our city through the quality of our air, water, transportation system, land remediation, energy, housing stock, and parks and public space. To make these improvements the City will need committed and passionate volunteer community nurtured by NYC Service which creates a more invested New York population that does the work to create a greener, greater, New York.
You can easy access the NYC Service website to access volunteering opportunities all over the city.
