As virtually every part of the city grows, one piece remains fixed: the supply of land. That's why New York City must use its space more efficiently to accommodate growth while preserving -and enhancing -the city's quality of life. It is critical that the City find ways to provide our residents with room to live, work, and play. The City is creating healthier and more transit-accessible communities by unlocking the potential of unrealized housing capacity, underutilized or unfinished parks, and contaminated land. These initiatives to produce housing, create open space, and redevelop brownfields will ensure New York City's growth is healthy and sustainable.
