Welcome to the New York City Mayor’s Office of Operations website. Established pursuant to the City Charter, the Office of Operations regularly evaluates agency performance, assists agencies in improving service quality and delivery, and oversees Mayoral and agency initiatives.
Under Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s initiative, the City’s performance management system has been transformed. The Mayor’s Management Report (MMR) has been retooled to focus on what matters most to City residents. It now serves as a public report card about the way City services affect residents’ lives. My Neighborhood Statistics lets City residents know how City services are performing in their neighborhood by viewing locally mapped performance statistics through the City’s website. Citizens can make comparisons between the highs and lows in different neighborhoods, as well as cross-year and citywide comparisons. Data generated from the City’s 311 Citizen Service Center is being used to validate agency performance, is included in the MMR, and is included on My Neighborhood Statistics for select services requested through 311. Additionally, the revamped Office of Operations’ website includes direct links to the MMR and My Neighborhood Statistics, lists various monthly 311 Citizen Service Center call data, and is more interactive, providing the public with greater access to current and historical performance information.
During Fiscal Year 2006, the Office of Operations was reorganized into three distinct areas of focus: Agency Services, Long-term Planning and Sustainability, Environmental Coordination and Enviornmental Remediation. This reorganization places emphasis on assisting agencies to find solutions to problems and to incorporate city-wide strategic planning into their operations in addition to monitoring performance.
These initiatives have enhanced the transparency and accountability of City government. The City will continue striving to make additional improvements in performance management and reporting to help citizens better understand what City agencies are achieving.
