Certain Pay Schedules Vary
The following employees receive pay on a different schedule than the one outlined below. If you have questions, contact your Payroll department.
- Uniformed Sanitation employees and certain trades titles in the Department of Environmental Protection are paid weekly. Pay days are Fridays, with a one-week lag for regular pay and two-week lag for exceptions.
- Department of Education (DoE) teachers are paid semi-monthly. The DoE makes separate payments to teachers for some school programs. These checks are mailed to teachers' homes by the DoE.
- City University of New York (CUNY) Community College employees are paid bi-weekly. Adjunct and full-time Professors do not have any pay lag.
- New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) employees of NYCHA are paid bi-weekly on Thursdays with a one-week pay lag.
Exceptions to regular pay, including premium pay for overtime, shift differentials, or work on holidays is paid on a two-week lag. This occurs because exceptions that occurred during the second week of the pay period are reported after your pay is calculated.
Your pay for regular hours worked is calculated for the second week of the pay period and is adjusted for any exceptions in the following paycheck.
