James Anderson Communications Director James Anderson is the Communications Director. As Communications Director, Anderson is the Bloomberg Administration's primary contact for all editorial boards and columnists. Prior to his appointment, Anderson served as Associate Commissioner for Communications and External Affairs for the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS). In that capacity he oversaw the media relations, legislative affairs, and community relations units, and also served as senior policy advisor to Commissioner Linda Gibbs. Anderson was initially appointed Director of Communications for DHS in April 2002. Prior to joining the Bloomberg Administration, Anderson served for four years as the Communications Director of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), a national nonprofit organization focused on ensuring safe schools for lesbian and gay students. Raised in Missoula, Montana, Anderson graduated from the University of Washington in 1994 and relocated to New York City in 1998. |
