Mr. Aviles is currently the President and chief executive officer of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), the largest municipal healthcare system in the nation. HHC is an integrated healthcare network with 11 acute care hospitals, 4 nursing homes, 6 large diagnostic and treatment centers, nearly 100 community-based ambulatory care sites, a large home care agency and a Medicaid managed care plan with more than 225,000 enrollees. Before his appointment as President, Mr. Aviles served as Senior Vice President of the HHC's Queens Health Network and Executive Director of Elmhurst Hospital Center, and as HHC's General Counsel, among other positions. Mr. Aviles began his management career in health care with Ryan Community Health Network where he served as a Senior Vice President responsible for overseeing major network development initiatives. Prior to his entry into the healthcare sector, Mr. Aviles was a public interest litigator and a manager of large scale legal operations. Among other posts, he has served as General Counsel for the New York City Housing Authority and as Deputy Chief of the Public Advocacy Division of the New York State Attorney General's Office. Mr. Aviles is a graduate of Columbia College and the Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey.
