"Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity for all New Yorkers to give thanks for the blessings and good fortune we've received throughout the year," Mayor Giuliani said. "But Thanksgiving is also about giving and sharing our good fortune with others, a long-standing tradition that countless New Yorkers observe every year during the holiday season by donating food, clothing and their time."
Mayor Giuliani continued: "As a result of the generosity of groups like the Korean-American Association of Greater New York, the Korean American Foundation Corp. and City Harvest, hundreds of families who might not have been able to enjoy a Thanksgiving turkey will now be able to do so."
The Korean-American Foundation Corp., which has donated 200 turkeys this year, has been donating Thanksgiving turkeys to New York City and other cities across the country for 15 years. The Korean American Association of Greater New York also donated 300 turkeys.
All of the turkeys will be distributed by City Harvest, a not-for-profit organization that distributes more than 15,000 pounds of food a day to emergency food programs in New York City. If you would like to donate food call City Harvest at (212) 463-8801; to donate funds call (800) 77HARVEST.
