"I want to congratulate Susan Lucci on winning her first Daytime Emmy Award for best actress," Mayor Giuliani said. "Life as Erica in 'All My Children' hasn't been rose-colored for Susan. During the past 28 years she has survived a kidnapping, a plane crash, an encounter with a grizzly bear, nine marriages and a daring helicopter rescue of one of her lovers from prison. For performing all these risky deeds and her unquestionable talent, I think this Emmy Award was long overdue."
In addition to her leading role in "All My Children," Susan Lucci has starred in the television movies "Blood on her Hands," "Seduced and Betrayed," "Mafia Princess," "Anastasia," "The Bride in Black," and "Ebbie," among many others. She has co-hosted a myriad of ABC Television Network specials, and appeared in critically acclaimed television commercials.
In addition to the Emmys, Ms. Lucci has won countless other awards, including the 1992 People's Choice Award, the 1993 Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Lead Actress, and the 1994 Crystal Apple Award.
