MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL THAT AMENDS THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK IN RELATION TO THE ANNUAL DISCLOSURE OF FINANCIAL INTERESTS

-Remarks By Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani At Public Hearing On Local Laws-

The bill before me today is Introductory Number 541, sponsored at my request by Council Member Pinkett. This legislation would amend the Administrative Code of the City of New York, in relation to the annual disclosure of financial interests.

Specifically, the bill would increase the threshold salary for the filing of annual financial disclosure reports for officers and employees of City agencies from $66,100 to $68,100. The threshold increase is necessitated by raises provided to certain uniformed City employees, whose salaries are now above the minimum threshold required to file a financial disclosure report, but who were never intended to be required to file such a report. Employees required to file for reasons other than simply their salary, such as the nature of the duties they perform, will not be affected by this legislation.

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
