MAYOR GIULIANI READS TO STUDENTS AT P. S. 24 IN THE BRONX

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today read from his book, "What Will You Be?" to a kindergarten class at Public School 24 in The Bronx. School Interim Acting Principal Mark Levine and members of the P.S. 24 Parents Association also joined the Mayor.

"I am delighted to be here today sharing my book "What Will You Be?" with such a cheerful audience," the Mayor said. "I can only hope that the same enthusiasm that brightens the faces of these young children now remains a driving force throughout their lives as they strive to achieve their goals.

"I commend Principal Mark Levine, teachers and parents at PS 24 for their commitment to excellence in education. Your dedication is key to the future of our children, who are the future of our City," the Mayor concluded.

"What Will You Be?" provides children with a fun way of practicing their reading skills, with its catchy prose and colorful, stimulating illustrations. At the same time, it allows them to focus on their personal and professional goals for the future.

The book, inspired by Mayor Giuliani and written and illustrated by Kristin Doney, was published last summer by New York City Public/Private initiatives. Funding was made possible through a $25,000 grant from Goldman, Sachs & Co. Bookmart Press donated the printing of 10,000 copies.

Copies of the Mayor's book have been donated to all elementary school libraries, and to all branches of the New York Public Library.
