MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL $5,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE APPREHENSION AND CONVICTION OF THE KILLER OR KILLERS OF AMY WATKINS

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today announced that The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the killer or killers of Amy Watkins. The $5,000 donation is in addition to the $10,000 reward already being offered by the City of New York, for a total reward of $15,000.

"The brutal murder of Amy Watkins deeply saddened all New Yorkers, who were touched by Amy's gentle spirit and selfless devotion to others," Mayor Giuliani said. "Her death prompted a tremendous outpouring of support from friends and strangers alike. The generous $5,000 reward now being offered by The General Theological Seminary -- combined with a $10,000 reward from the City -- will encourage anyone with information about this heinous crime to come forward and bring Amy's killer or killers to justice."

Ward B. Ewing, Dean and President of The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, said, "We are hopeful that this increased reward may help in bringing justice to this crime and some small relief and closure for Amy's family as soon as possible."

While walking home to her Brooklyn apartment on Monday night, March 8th, Amy Watkins was stabbed in the back by an unknown assailant or assailants at 9:45 P.M and later pronounced dead at Interfaith Medical Center. The attack occurred in the vicinity of 326 Park Place in the Prospect Heights Section of Kings County. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
