I want to express to Joe Torre and his wonderful family my support and prayers. All New Yorkers are rooting for him as he wages his battle against cancer.
He is a personal friend, an absolutely terrific human being as well as being the best manager in baseball. We will certainly give him any help or any assistance that he needs. In particular I am sure all New Yorkers join me in offering his family our support, our prayers and our hope that he quickly recovers and he is back leading the team to a championship.
Joe is as strong and determined a person as you will ever meet and I am very hopeful that he will overcome this.
